Arlen Blakeman

Arlen Blakeman is a third-generation attorney, with no shortage of other attorneys in his extended family. But growing up, Arlen never felt unfair expectations placed on him, and he was excited about the possibility of becoming a lawyer himself. Over the years, he had seen the ways members of his family had been able to use their legal background to help those around them, and that was something Arlen wanted to do, too. When it came time to decide what he wanted to do for the rest of his life, Arlen found it to be an easy decision.

Before joining the SBSB Eastham team, Arlen was an assistant state attorney in the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, where he worked on a wide range of criminal cases. His time there greatly shaped his own approach to the law. Not only did he gain valuable courtroom experience, but he learned to work with many different types of people – not all of them cordial – all with different goals. While some find it easier to adopt a more adversarial tone, Arlen has found that open communication and mutual respect can do much more to accomplish his clients’ goals. Arlen is always ready to fight, but has seen firsthand the benefits of working together. At the end of the day, he’s there on his clients’ behalf.

Outside the office, Arlen enjoys reading about history and watching sports, whether it’s golf, college football or basketball, and even chess.
