Hanna Verlander

While in law school, Hanna Verlander did an externship at the Louisiana Department of Revenue and clerked for a firm providing legal counsel to State Farm Insurance.

Since earning her J.D. in 2008, her practice has included insurance defense; maritime/admiralty law; and construction, transportation and personal injury litigation. In 2015, she started concentrating on claims arising under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act and the Defense Base Act. That’s when she knew she had discovered her niche.

She has in-depth knowledge of these laws and thrives on creating unique approaches to each case. She addresses the specific needs of her clients while approaching plaintiffs with empathy and understanding. In addition to being the right thing to do, she knows that will lead to greater collaboration and rapport.

She has excellent communication skills — whether it be drafting pleadings and motions, conducting depositions, explaining potential exposure, negotiating efficient and reasonable settlements or recommending other resolutions.

She enjoys being part of the community of professionals who regularly work on these claims and is known for developing respectful and long-term relationships with everyone involved — clients, insurance companies, plaintiffs, opposing counsel, judges, and Department of Labor adjusters.
