Hector Jett Black is an associate in SBSB Eastham’s Houston office and is a member of the firm’s Defense Base Act practice group with a rich background in energy law. Before joining the firm in September 2024, he worked at an oil and gas firm practicing title examination and energy transactions. During this time, he represented clients in transactional matters including oil and gas exploration, production, distribution and marketing.

A native of Eagle Pass, Texas, Jett attended Texas A&M University as an undergrad, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering in 2019. Following this, he attended South Texas College of Law, ultimately earning his law degree in 2023. While in law school, he interned for Judge Alia Moses in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas and Federal Magistrate Judge Frances Stacy in the Southern District of Texas. Additionally, he worked as a research assistant at South Texas, clerked at multiple firms and interned with the Railroad Commission of Texas.

Jett is admitted to the State Bar of Texas, maintains membership in multiple sections of the bar at the state level and in Houston and is a member of the Institute for Energy Law. Outside of his legal practice, he sits on two committees associated with the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
