John Murphy

John Murphy is an associate in SBSB Eastham’s Chicago office. A member of the firm’s Defense Base Act group, he previously worked on behalf of plaintiffs and gained experience in several areas of the law, namely personal injury and medical malpractice law, before joining the side of the defense and arriving to the firm in September 2024.

John attended the University of Madison-Wisconsin as an undergraduate and earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Political Science in 2021. After graduation, he went on to study at the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, earning his Juris Doctorate in 2025. While in law school, he formed a strong knowledge base in multiple areas of the law including trusts and estates, trial advocacy and international human rights law.

John is admitted to the Illinois State Bar Association. When away from his practice, he enjoys golfing, closely following Chicago sports and spending time with his family and loved ones.
