When Lisa Torron-Bautista was just eight years old, she witnessed a car accident. Instead of being afraid or running away, she started writing down what she had seen so she could paint an accurate picture for the police. Her mother was an insurance adjuster, so she knew the importance of documenting witnesses.

That experience convinced her to pursue law. Since earning her J.D. from St. Thomas University School of Law in 1993, she has focused on insurance defense, including workers’ compensation, the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act and the Defense Base Act. Through the years, she has expanded her practice to include general liability and first-party insurance defense – property and coverage.

After 10 years as the managing partner of a statewide Florida defense firm, she joined AIG. Her initial mandate at the multinational corporation was to build and supervise the in-house Defense Base Act practice team. She was soon promoted to National Group Practice Lead, overseeing employee injury defense for staff counsel nationwide. While in that role, she spearheaded a successful mass mediation program to resolve claims quickly and efficiently. In one of her mass mediations, 50 cases were resolved over a four-day period.

Working with insurance brokers, agents, coverage specialists, claims administrators, and adjusters has provided Lisa with unique insights into all the nuances one might encounter in insurance litigation, granting her a rare and privileged perspective for a defense attorney.

Since joining SBSB Eastham Law in 2016, she has re-established relationships with clients she served years ago and created new relationships with clients who have come to recognize her intense dedication and efficiency. Lisa is known for her ability to save her clients time and money. As she explains, if she can resolve a case the day it comes in, she will do it.
