Maria J. Angel

Maria J. Angel is an associate in SBSB Eastham’s Houston office. A member of the firm’s Defense Base Act practice group since June 2024, she also handles Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act cases.

A native of Venezuela, Maria enrolled in law school at the age of 16, eventually earning her law degree from Universidad Santa Maria. Witnessing widespread famine, injustice and chaos spurned her on to further pursuit of a legal career, and after graduating, she worked as a law clerk in Venezuela in civil and business litigation. After moving to Houston, she earned a paralegal certificate from Texas A&M International University before earning an LL.M. in U.S. Law from the University of Houston.

Maria is admitted to the State Bar of Texas and is fluent in Spanish and English. She is deeply passionate about the law, having pursued her career across two continents and nearly ten years. It is with immense pride that she fights for justice for her clients.
