Matt Thompson has showcased his versatility as an attorney through his diverse professional background. Prior to joining SBSB, Matt handled felony criminal prosecutions as a Rule XX in the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, served as a clerk in the Jefferson Parish Inspector General’s Office, and handled a diverse set of casework representing plaintiffs in matters ranging from complex medical malpractice to personal injury.
Currently focused on supporting the firm’s Defense Base Act practice, Matt was attracted to SBSB’s reputation in managing the complex issues of maritime law in all its forms, an area of practice that is so important for the industries of southern Louisiana and the United States as a whole. The Houston native remains intrigued by the culture and history of Southern Louisiana and takes every opportunity to learn more about the entire region.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Matt served as a laboratory research analyst studying soil and water quality across the Gulf Coast and their impacts on regional aquatic populations. His many years of scientific research provides Matt with a unique perspective and allows him to better serve his clients.
Matt exhibits a drive and unwavering dedication in serving the firm’s clients in any way possible, and he is entrenched in his tenacity in examining the minutiae of each file and arriving at thoughtful and reasonable solutions.
A lifelong accomplished musician, in his free time Matt can be found playing a range of instruments as well as diving deep into the culinary landscape that is Southern Louisiana with his wife, Anna.
