While attending Tulane Law School, Melissa Miller was fascinated by and earned a Certificate in Admiralty & Maritime Law. In the process, she learned how to conduct in-depth research, structure legal cases and navigate the maze of applicable federal laws. She was also a Managing Editor of Tulane’s Maritime Law Journal.

Since earning her J.D. in 2017, she has focused on insurance defense, primarily on claims arising under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, the War Hazards Compensation Act and the Defense Base Act. As a child, she lived on U.S. Army bases throughout the world, which provided her with a unique understanding of the issues inherent in these cases; the various jurisdictional regulations; and the entities involved, along with their different responsibilities.

She has excellent communication skills and is known for her thoroughness — providing clients with comprehensive reports and analyses of all sides and possible scenarios, explanations of the most realistic settlement amounts, and guidance on how to optimize the outcome of their case while taking into account their specific defense strategy and goals.
