Michael McAlpine is a litigation partner in SBSB Eastham’s New Orleans office. A native of the city and a graduate of Tulane University Law School, he developed a deep connection to the energy of the city’s port and its reliance on the oil and gas industry both onshore and offshore. His legal career reflects that connection, as he has a rich practice in admiralty and maritime, casualty litigation, collision, energy, transportation and more.

Michael joined SBSB Eastham in August 2018. In discussing the value of depth, he remarked that “Depth means to have broad experience, both practical and legal.” Outside of his daily practice, he frequently gives continuing legal education presentations and speaks at seminars and conferences, lending his knowledge back to the legal community. His work has earned recognition by Super Lawyers as a top transportation and maritime attorney in New Orleans.

Michael is admitted to the State Bars of Louisiana and Texas and is licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and multiple U.S. District Courts in Louisiana. He is known for his effective and efficient approach to litigation at every level.
