Monika Trujillo

Monika Trujillo is an associate in SBSB Eastham’s Chicago office boasting more than a decade of litigation experience. She has extensive experience in defense of Illinois state workers’ compensation cases, civil subrogation matters and claims arising under the Defense Base Act and the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act. Her practice ranges across various industries, including municipalities, manufacturers, healthcare providers and service industries, and she represents clients from self-insureds to excess insureds, all while simultaneously addressing each party’s unique interests and managing claim costs.

A member of SBSB Eastham’s bench since September 2020, Monika’s passion for health and science drove her to a career focused on traumatic and industrial injuries following her graduation from Chicago-Kent College of Law. With a background in psychology, neuroscience and biology dating back to her undergraduate career at Roosevelt University, she has dedicated her practice to workers’ compensation defense and remains heavily involved with the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Bar. She regularly presents legal educational seminars for her clients, keeping them abreast of all legislative updates, caselaw revisions and best practices in Illinois Workers’ Compensation tailored to their specific needs.

Monika is admitted to the Illinois State Bar Association and holds a peer-elected position on the Board of Directors for the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association. Her work has garnered professional acclaim, including recognition by Chicago Lawyer as one of its Top Workers’ Compensation Lawyers, Top Civil Defense Lawyers and Top Women Lawyers, all based on peer recognition. Since 2020, she has been recognized among the top two percent of lawyers who are 40 years old or younger and have proven themselves to be professional, ethically sound and exceptionally experienced in their practice area.
