Olivia Maynard focuses her practice on Defense Base Act matters. However, she joins SBSB Eastham with wide experience in a number of areas. As a former legal extern with Louisiana’s Department of Energy and Natural Resources, she performed extensive research into Energy and Natural Resource Law, including carbon sequestration, climate change, and groundwater rights. She also worked as an assistant at a Metairie-area law firm handling issues related to personal injury.

That personal injury experience is what helped convince Olivia to pursue a career as an attorney. Helping those who weren’t always able to help themselves, Olivia was able to make a positive impact in the lives of those she worked with. Now, as an attorney, she has more resources at her disposal to continue that work fighting for her clients. Olivia’s colleagues have seen this firsthand and have often remarked on her ability to bring people together and find common ground.

After receiving her law degree from the Paul M. Herbert Law Center, Olivia returned to her alma mater as an Advocacy Fellow, where she assisted the Program Director in Advocacy Program administration and management. This included coaching and preparing students for moot court, mock trial, and alternative dispute resolution competitions. While those days are behind her, the lessons Olivia learned will serve her for years to come.
