Rebecca Vanas is a staunch advocate for her clients who is fully committed to protecting their interests. She believes in open communication and condor when discussing cases with clients, which she believes fosters trust and understanding as they work together to develop the best course of action.
Early in her decision-making process regarding a law degree, Rebecca interned as a law clerk as SBSB. Her experience with the affirming culture and unparalleled spirit of cultivation at the firm convinced her to continue her pursuit of a career as an attorney. It was only in her subsequent years of law school that she discovered every firm does not have the same culture of teamwork and personal development that she found at SBSB, which made her decision to accept a position here even easier.
At SBSB, Rebecca focuses on Defense Base Act (DBA) cases. However, while studying at William and Mary Law School, one of her defining semesters was working with the Virginia Capital Case Clearing House. With that clinic, she worked with long-term incarcerated individuals seeking parole. She found the direct relationships with them and the work to help them in a criminal defense capacity rewarding. The attention to detail and ability to objectively analyze each case are skills that she uses to great effect to this day for her DBA clients.
