Five Schouest, Bamdas, Soshea, BenMaier & Eastham PLLC (SBSB Eastham) partners, including managing partner John Schouest, have been selected to the 2023 edition of Texas Super Lawyers.

Mr. Schouest and partners Kelly Haas and Robert Klawetter were recognized for their work in transportation/maritime law, partner Susan Noe Wilson was honored for personal injury defense and partner David Merkley for civil litigation.

The publication’s patented selection process is peer-influenced and research-driven, recognizing the top 5% of lawyers in each state.

“I am so proud of this team and the hard work they put in for our clients day in and day out,” said Mr. Schouest. “They are so talented, and I am very happy to see them recognized, especially by our peers.”

Mr. Schouest, who has been named to the legal guide for 11 years, is the preferred legal counsel for some of the world’s largest insurance companies when handling high-dollar, multi-jurisdictional, legally complex claims. He is also one of the world’s leading attorneys for Defense Base Act work. Mr. Schouest has an AV Preeminent Rating by Martindale-Hubbell and has also been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America.

Ms. Noe Wilson, who helps lead the litigation department at SBSB Eastham, is well known for her expertise in maritime personal injury claims. She has an AV Preeminent Rating by Martindale-Hubbell and is marking her ninth consecutive year on the Texas Super Lawyers list.

Mr. Merkley is a board-certified trial lawyer who is co-chair of the firm’s litigation department. He is frequently retained to handle the defense or navigate complicated discovery issues in high-profile catastrophic accident cases. Mr. Merkley is a member of American Board of Trial Advocates and has been recognized by Texas Super Lawyers every year since 2008.

Mr. Klawetter, who also has an AV Preeminent Rating, has made the Texas Super Lawyers list for 13 years. He has practiced law for more than 40 years and is best known for his defense work in major casualty, personal injury and wrongful death cases.

Ms. Haas, who focuses on admiralty and maritime litigation, is a nine-time Texas Super Lawyers honoree and also an AV Preeminent Rated attorney. Earlier in her career, she was honored twice by the publication as a Texas Rising Star, an award that recognizes younger attorneys.
