Schouest, Bamdas, Soshea, BenMaier & Eastham PLLC (SBSB Eastham) is celebrating its ninth anniversary.
Founded in Houston in 2015, SBSB Eastham has become a leader in admiralty and maritime law, among other areas. Firm lawyers have decades of experience handling cases associated with inland waterways, brown water commerce, offshore exploration and production, international and Jones Act shipping, and international cruise lines.
The firm is also known for its deep bench of litigators who handle a wide variety of defense work, from Defense Base Act and Longshore claims to class action defense, commercial litigation, general liability, trucking and insurance.
“When we started, we didn’t set goals or parameters,” said firm co-founder and managing partner John Schouest. “We said, ‘We’re just go and try to be the best place we can be.’ And that’s what we’ve done.”
SBSB Eastham now has offices from coast to coast in Houston, Boca Raton, Fla., New Orleans, Chicago, Corpus Christi, Milwaukee and Mobile, Ala. The firm and its attorneys also boast several prestigious legal awards, including a top-tier ranking by Best Law Firms for 2024.
The founders “sought to create an environment that people would want to come to and where people would want to stay,” said Robert Bamdas, firm co-founder and managing partner of the Boca Raton office. “And here we are now, starting with 21 lawyers, and we now have over 150, and I think that is a testament to what we’ve created here.”
